THOMASVILLE (August 24, 2022) – We don’t often think about what’s needed to work in a zoo or aquarium. But Davidson-Davie Community College is one school that offers instruction in both.

The college’s Zoo & Aquarium Science program is one of just two in the country offered by a community college, Davidson-Davie President Darrin Hartness says in the accompanying video.

“They learn how to take care of animals, they learn different feeding patterns, they learn the different species. And they’re equipped then to go and work anywhere in the country where there’s a large zoo or aquarium,” Hartness says.

“It’s a very unique program, a unique niche for the college, and (we) have had students go all over the country and work in zoos and aquariums.”
