The 2020 election has enormous implications both for higher education and our country as a whole.
If you’ve already voted, as more than 3.6 million North Carolinians have,1 we thank you.
If you haven’t voted, we urge you to exercise your civic duty. You have several options:
- You can vote early in person at any early site in your county through Saturday, Oct. 31. You can look up early voting sites and hours in your county here. If you are not a registered voter, you can register the same day you vote at early-voting sites.
- You can mail an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. If you would rather not send your ballot by mail, you can use a commercial courier service, drop it off at your county board of elections by 5 p.m. on Election Day, or drop it off at an early voting site in your county by Saturday, Oct. 31. The State Board of Elections offers step-by-step instructions here.
- You can vote in person at your precinct on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Even if they aren’t handing out the customary stickers as you leave the polls this year, you can still smile and think to yourself, “I Vote Ed.”
