RALEIGH – NC State University Chancellor Randy Woodson sees the power of higher education every day.
In the accompanying video, Woodson shares the story of a student who worked hard to become the first in his family to go to college and to be admitted to NC State’s College of Engineering – then his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and the family used all its savings battling her disease.
“He was calling to say that he wasn’t coming, and opened the mailbox to find that he was awarded the Pack Promise,” Woodson says. The scholarship guarantees a student will graduate without any debt.
“There are stories like that every day of people’s lives that will be transformed,” Woodson says. “That’s one of the reasons this is such a great job – it’s because you see the transformational power of higher education every day in the lives of the people that are here.”
