RALEIGH – All 16 universities in the University of North Carolina System are trying to smooth transfers from North Carolina’s community colleges.
“All of us are working hard on seamless transfers from the Community College System,” NC State University Chancellor Randy Woodson says in the accompanying video.
NC State works in a number of ways with community colleges. Woodson describes how NC State’s new Community College Collaboration (C3) program is creating innovative, in-depth partnerships with several colleges.
“You’re jointly admitted to NC State and one of eight community colleges in the region. And if you follow your curriculum at the community college, advised by advisors at NC State, and you do well in your studies, you’re automatically admitted to this university for your degree,” he says.
Not everyone goes directly from high school to a four-year university. Woodson says this year’s class of about 7,000 first-year students at NC State included about 5,000 freshmen, 1,500 transfer students and 500 who deferred enrollment until spring semester.
“All of us are working hard to take advantage of the system of higher education in North Carolina for the benefit of the citizens of the state,” Woodson says.
