RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – A special presentation this week by UNC TV’s Black Issues Forum featured an engaging panel discussion about the economic impact and continued relevance of North Carolina’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
HBCUs: Legacy and Leadership, moderated by Deborah Holt Noel, includes commentary from:
- Fayetteville State University Chancellor James Anderson;
- Winston-Salem State University Chancellor Elwood Robinson;
- NC Central University Chancellor Johnson Akinleye; and
- Dr. James Johnson of the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
UNC TV produced the discussion to accompany filmmaker Stanley Nelson’s national documentary Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities.
The one-hour discussion can be viewed online here. An encore presentation will also air at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on the North Carolina Channel.
