WILMINGTON – Great students, great faculty, great programs – that’s what UNC Wilmington Chancellor Jose “Zito” Sartarelli says attracted him to Wilmington a year and a half ago.
“We had great students – we had quality students coming in,” Sartarelli says in the accompanying video. “We had great faculty from all over the country, from top universities. And we had great programs where we excelled.”
Among those are nationally recognized programs in marine sciences and creative writing, as well as psychology, accounting and finance, nursing, education, chemistry and computer science. There’s even a burgeoning program in biometrics and facial recognition.
“We are rich in quality programs, and we’re not in the business of creating programs just for the heck of it,” Sartarelli says.
“We’re creating programs that meet the demand in the workplace and marketplace. So if students want to specialize and develop in a degree program in a certain area, we should try to meet that as much as possible.”
