GREENSBORO – The Connect NC bonds on the ballot in the March 15 primary election will help connect real students with real jobs.
“We’re turning away 140 qualified nursing students every year,” UNC Greensboro Chancellor Franklin Gilliam Jr. says in the accompanying video. “Cone Health tells us we cannot produce nurses fast enough for them to hire.
“We need those workers…. These are high-paying jobs.”
The bond proposals will be meaningful not just to students at UNC Greensboro, Gilliam says. They will also mean more than $200 million to Guilford County and an infusion to the local economy.
“It’s extraordinarily important,” Gilliam says. “This is an investment in our future. Another way to say it is a big ROI for the community.”
