Fifty-five years ago, Research Triangle Park was nothing more than pine forest and a vague idea. Today, it has become the largest, most successful research park in the country.
As CEO of Glaxo Wellcome, Bob Ingram saw his company grow with RTP. But he isn’t taking the park’s success for granted. As chairman of the Research Triangle Foundation, Ingram is looking ahead to more research-driven growth, fueled in large part by North Carolina’s world-class universities.
“What drives us is the collaboration we can capture with our universities,” Ingram says in an interview. “We have to invest in those disciplines in education that are going to produce the future talent.”
